Alright, it’s almost a week since Superstar’s “Lingaa” hit the screens and still the euphoria surrounding the movie has not died down, why? No prizes for the lucky guess, it’s the rage and love for the phenomenon called “Superstar”. After the initial fan’s Thumb’s Up review, the reports have started coming in as the movie is not a blockbuster material, and yes subject to trolls, we at Indiaglitz bring to you ten rock solid reasons why you should not miss the movie in THEATRES.
Flashback
As much as it takes more than 90 minutes
into the flashback, Raja Lingeswaran is the true backbone of “Lingaa”.
The majestic stride he takes in as a collector, then the grandiose
appearance of a Raja and then off to some awe-inspiring moments to
encourage the villagers sums up the Raja’s flashback. The character of
Raja Lingeswaran is the heart of Lingaa without a doubt.
Thought provoking Punches
Warning, spoilers ahead. He is probably
the one who might have invented Punch Dialogues, all through his films
the power packed one liners are a must, with Lingaa it’s more of thought
provoking. This one in particular is full of mass yet makes you ponder:
“Oru Vellai Sapidalana Prechana Illa, Oru Vellaikuda Sapidalana
Prechana”. If this caused you Goosebumps, then how about this “Vazhkaila
ethuvum Easy ila, Muyarchi panna ethuvum Kashtam ila”. In short Lingaa
has enough dialogues for a management Guru to derive a short leadership
speech.
Double treat
'Lingaa' truly is not the best of
Superstar’s double role movies; nevertheless the bowl of variety and
transition is crystal clear and sensational. From that of a cheeky
hardworking thief to a well-dressed periodic Victorian and then in an
all bundled up tuxedo the transformation between 'Lingaa' and Raja
Lingeswaran is charismatic.
Politics
Come what may, a superstar movie never
stops you from giving all the hints of the political riddle. Just when
you think he has put an end to this million dollar question, the movie
is packed with enough sequences that Rajini is not chickening out from
politics, only hesitant.
Style
When someone walks into a Rajini movie,
the expectation is to steer clear of all humanly tasks and ogle at
superstar’s style. In 'Lingaa', as she swishes the jacket behind, walks
on the dam majestically, eases down the staircase of his Palace in
grandiose swiftly, and the usual charismatic punch dialogues and
delivery.
Entry
From breaking a watermelon with his bare
head in Baasha, grabbing a snake in Padayappa; Supestar’s entry has
always been an adrenaline rush moment. Superstar entry doesn’t let the
crowd down as the pile of jaw dropping automobiles rally up and out
comes the man in an all whistle moment.
Prehistoric struggle
The flashback sequences show the struggle
that even a man in power has to undergo against an empire that made
even basic necessities look larger than life. The take back from Lingaa
however is that to do something good, you don’t need the chair to
deliver, but the will to do.
Cinematography
First the boot of Raja Lingeswaran, then
as the lens zoom out a 180* view of the dam and the thousands of
villagers pan out and then the aerial view of the dam comes up, one can
just say “Whoa” and “Oh My” of these views. Rathnavelu’s brilliant
camera work is evident showcasing every single angle with subject to
detail!
The return
'Lingaa' also marks the return of
Superstar’s original avatar after a gap of four years. In 'Kochadaiyaan'
we got to see the motion captured version of Rajinikanth, so making
this yet another reason for the fans to flock in.
Rajinikanth
Let the jokes paramount, reviews batter,
drop no sweat; this single word is enough! The superstar phenomenon is
more than just about style, one liner, pace! It’s a rare chemical
reaction that frenzies the fans and we get to see enough of it through
Lingaa. All of Rajini movies have always been family oriented, rich with
sentiments and some gravity defying stunts; Lingaa’s plate has enough
to ease your appetite and walk in without your expectation glasses for a
Rajini treat.
